Late Night Field Trip

If has finally happened.  The burning desire for something immediately.  The need to get a specific food RIGHT NOW.  The craving so badly that without it, I will surely die.  Yes, it has come.  And come it did at 11:15 PM last night.  We were already in bed - pjs and all - enjoying some reading  before drifting off to sleep.  I really credit much of this problem to the book I'm reading - Knocked Up - Confessions of a Hip Mother-to-be by Rebecca Eckler.  It very well could be written by Rebecca Wright because, of course, I am a hip mother-to-be, but even more then that it speaks directly from many of my actual experiences so far as well.  It's great.  But its also the fault of the book that we had to drive to McDonalds in our underwear a few minutes later.  "I've had french fries every day for the last six months" she said in her book.  Thats all is took.  I needed them.  I had to have them to survive.  All I could think about, imagine, taste and live for at that moment was the crispy outside, soft inside, hot, salty, and perfect McDonalds french fries.  There was no turning back and it didn't matter that we were already in bed - after all, McyD's is just around the corner.  So, after going on and on for 5 minutes about how I NEEDED the fries RIGHT NOW, Andrew, my wonderful and every so accommodating husband, got out of bed and walked to the car, in his boxers, and brought me the two blocks over to the shining golden arches.  And guess what?!  The drive through in open ALL NIGHT!  This is very important information to be aware of and pretty much crucial to my survival over the next 29.5 weeks.  Andrew laughed as I ordered a medium fry and cheeseburger, without onions of course, just for extra measure.  Never have I enjoyed something as I did last night.  Everything was better then I had even imagined it to be - the cheeseburgers cheese was perfectly melted, the fries had the most perfect amount of crispy ones mixed with the squishy ones...it was delightful.  My cheeseburger was gone before we got home and as Andrew crawled back into bed, I finished (sadly, wishing for more) my fabulous fries as I laid in bed, too.  Then I, so satisfied, drifted off into my slumber.

  1. This is priceless! Taquito will enjoy reading through these in the years to come :) My McDonalds temptation was the McFlurry.
