The 14 week mark finds the Wright family enjoying the midwest and all of the fabulous things that come with it. This past weekend Andrew rode almost 190 miles on a bike trip/fundraiser with my home church beginning in Minneapolis and ending in Lansing, IA. While he was peddling down the rode with my dad and other relatives, I was busy cooking away with my mom, sister, aunts, and grandma. We prepared all the meals and snacks for the bikers as they arrived at each checkpoint along the way. It was a great weekend. Andrew was the front rider most of the time (yes, I like to brag!) and everything ran very smoothly with the food and meals. It was beautiful, too. Although most of the other places we live or have visited have been plagued by a drought this summer, southern MN and northern Iowa were a stark contrast to that. The Mississippi river valley was almost florescent green and glowing with lush trees and bushes everywhere! It was wonderful to experience that again. The trip ended at my church camp, Village Creek Bible Camp, and it was just a trip down memory lane to be there. Everywhere we walked, I was able to tell Andrew a story about something that had happened in a particular place. It had been about 3 years since I had visited and it was great to be back. Most of my childhood summers and formative teen years were spent there and VCBC will always be a very special and important place in my life. Rach and I already look forward to sending our kids there in several years so that the tradition can continue for them!
This week, we will venture up north - along the shores of Lake Superior - to camp with Andrew's family for a few nights. It has been cool down here in the cities and we are anticipating even cooler weather up there...I can't wait! We will visit the city and place where we got engaged over 5 years ago, hike a bit, and enjoy some more lovely scenery!
As far as Baby Wright goes...he/she is about 3 1/2 inches long now and able to make different facial expressions! Everyone we tell about the baby here laughs at me when I try to show them my bump! I still claim that it exists! Slowly, but surely, this baby will make an appearance!
We miss all our CA friends/family a lot and look forward to seeing you "soon"! Much love from Minnesota! (Oh, P.S., check out the Flickr page for more pictures, too!) By the way, these 14 week photos were taken in my parents back yard - just so you guys get some what of an idea what "home" looks like!
