A Zoo-to-do!

For this President's Day weekend, I really wanted to go camping. We had made tentative plans to head up near Santa Barbara and camp along the coast, however, my cold/ear infection/sinus problem is just hanging on and my dear husband, trying to get me healthy, nixed the plan in an attempt to get me healthy. Very sadly, I put the camping desire on hold until I am feeling better.

So, instead, we packed a picnic and headed over to the LA Zoo. It was a beautiful morning! As stated earlier, rain has been over southern CA for the past week, and we woke up to a gorgeous snow-covered mountain range this morning.

I have decided that Evie, at least right now, is the kind of girl who needs to take everything in at first. When we are in new, overwhelming situations, she gets very serious and just stares!

I have no doubt that Evie loved seeing the animals, as she talked and talked as soon as we were in the car, I just think she likes to process new things first!

Following our zoo adventure, we drove through Griffith Park a bit to find a picnic spot. Evie had soaked through her pants at the zoo (oops, mom) so she got to feel the fresh air on her legs!
(Don't you love those thigh rolls?!!?)
For lunch, we were eating strawberries - Evie's new fav - and afterwards, we would throw the stem into the grass. Evie loved running after the stem, finding it in the grass, and bringing it back in her fist - all squished up! She loved the beautiful day as much as we did. It was a lovely lunch :)

So, even though we couldn't go camping, it turned out to be a pretty good day!
